- Plan and prepare for manual winder operations
- Access, interpret and apply documentation and procedures for operating manual winders and ensure the work activity is compliant
- Receive, interpret and clarify shift changeover details and take over control of winder
- Select and wear personal protective equipment
- Perform equipment and work area pre-operational checks to ensure equipment is ready for operation
- Check records for outstanding maintenance/inspections, record defects and take action
- Identify, address and report defects and potential hazards and risks
- Carry out start-up procedures including checking that area is clear for operations
- Identify, address and report environmental issues
- Adhere to emergency procedures
- Apply dust suppression and extraction methods
- Check and confirm that control cabin is environmentally and ergonomically sound
- Haul personnel
- Communicate with relevant personnel
- Confirm cage is ready for operations
- Initiate the system, follow start-up procedures and operate personnel cage, complying with directions from person in charge of cage
- Monitor and manage cage performance using appropriate indicators
- Adjust speed and movement as required
- Carry out shutdown procedures
- Haul equipment/ materials
- Communicate with relevant personnel
- Confirm cage/skip is ready for operation
- Initiate the system, follow start-up procedures and transport equipment using manual winder
- Adjust speed and movement as required
- Monitor and manage cage and/or skip performance using appropriate indicators
- Carry out shutdown procedures
- Carry out winder inspections
- Conduct end-of shift activities
